Manuel Castillo passed away September 10, 2016 at the age of 94 in Austin, Texas. He was born on August 3, 1922 in Austin, Texas. He served in the U. S. Army from November 9, 1942 to June 13, 1945, in various locations in Germany and France, receiving several medals, including the National Defense and Purple Heart.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Ascencion Martinez Castillo; father, Antonio Castillo; sisters, Mary Montez, Elena Castillo, Lucy Gutierrez; brother, Antonio Castillo.
Manuel leaves behind his loving wife of 42 years, Velia; three brothers, Pete, Lee, Joe; nieces and nephews; three Chihuahua dogs whom he loved very much.
Mrs. Castillo wishes to extend her sincere thanks to her sister, Ann and her husband Mayo to Mary Gonzales, and Art Guerrero for their support throughout the pass difficult times.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Wednesday, September 14, 2016 with Recitation of the Holy Rosary to be held at 7:00 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Thursday, September 15, 2016 at San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest Avenue, Austin, Texas.
Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
