Margaret Stahl Pruitt, age 79, passed away on January 17, 2021. Margaret graduated from Stockdale, Texas High School, and attended Del Mar College, where she obtained an Associate’s Degree. She graduated from Texas A & I (now part of the A & M system) with a B.S. in Secondary Education, where she majored in English and History. Margaret obtained a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Southwest Texas State (now Texas State University). Margaret taught high school for 33 years, of which 20 years were at AISD’s Anderson High School. Margaret often joked that she spent “most of her life in 9th grade.”
Margaret met her husband, Richard Pruitt, in 1973 at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin. Richard and Margaret married on June 10, 1978, and were married for 38 years. Margaret and Richard were some of the original members of Wildflower Unitarian Universalist Church and were 30+ year members of the Unitarian Universalist Church. Margaret loved her Wildflower Covenant Group and dear Wildflower friends. Margaret and Richard spent years planning and were proud of the beautiful Victorian-style home they built in Austin.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Nada Frazier of Florida; her brothers, Dickie Stahl (Patsy), Ray Stahl (Caroline) and Johnny Stahl (Patty) of the Stockdale, Texas area; and 8 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, and daughter, Beverly.
The family wishes to express gratitude to Margaret’s caregivers at Hospice Austin, Focus Care at Stonebriar, and Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home-South.
