Austin, TX - Marilil Smith Rychlik died peacefully at home July 10th at the age of 89 after facing a long and courageous battle with Parkinsons Disease. She demonstrated immense strength and grace throughout her journey. She has now been reunited with her love and husband of 66 years, Rick; her son, Allan; brother, Nathan; and parents.
She was a proud resident of West Austin for over 75 years and a long-time member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
She loved her family, the beach, angels and buying gifts for others, sending cards for all occasions to her friends, but her greatest joy was becoming a grandmother - “TuTu” to Carley and Blair.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers Pam and Khadija who took care of her for three and a half years and Enhabit Healthcare and Hospice for their exceptional care and support along with the program Power for Parkinsons.
A family burial followed by a Celebration of Life will be held, Saturday, August 10th at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Violet Crown City Church, 1300 Morrow St. in Austin.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks if desired that memorial contributions be made to either Power of Parkinsons 5555 N. Lamar Blvd C 109, Austin, Texas 78751 (powerforparkinsons.org), St. Luke United Methodist Church (st.lukeaustinumc.org), or to a charity of your choice.
