

Marty Band, 86 of Austin, TX, peacefully passed away May 2, 2012 with his two daughters by his side. He will leave a deep void for those who were close to him in the days, months and years to come. His presence of character, sense of humor and wisdom will profoundly be missed. His brave attitude is a lesson for us all.
Born on March 28, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan, he moved to Austin, Texas in April, 2008 to live near his beloved daughter, Brenda Band. Marty was a successful residential building contractor. Since his youth, he collected stamps and cherished his collection. He used to love playing handball and possessed a high affinity for politics, international and current events. He thoroughly enjoyed a deep, involved discussion re: the events of the day.
Eternal husband to his beloved Shirley Band, deceased (June 2010). He is survived by beloved daughters Brenda Band and Leslie Hirshberg (Band) and son-in-law Dale. Also survived by
grandchildren, Seth and Jason Hirshberg. Loved by all who were blessed to have known him. Included are the people of Austin who became Marty's new loving family which consisted of his caregivers and their families, close friends of Brenda Band and their children as well as the residents of The Heritage, The Summit of Northwest Hills, and Parmer Woods where Marty resided during his time in Texas. Additionally, the family would like to thank Dr. Sonstein and his staff for all of their care and support while Marty lived in Austin.
Rabbi Steve Folberg will lead the graveside service on Tuesday, May 8th at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, Austin, Texas at 10:00 A.M.
All of Marty's beloved friends and family are also welcome to join us in a celebration of his spirit and life later that day at 4603 Beechwood Hollow, Austin, Texas 78731 starting at 6:30 P.M.
