

Our beloved Chester, age 80, of Austin, passed away Friday, October 15, 2010, at the Lighthouse Hospice in Round Rock, Texas. Chester was born January 2, 1930 in Florence, Texas to Alex Jay and Ida Ellen Faught, who both predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his son, William Douglas Faught. Chester moved to Austin in 1947 and was a graduate of Florence High School and Nixon Clay Business College. He started in the banking business in 1947 and retired in June, 1995, after 46 years of service, of which 37 years were with the original Austin National Bank as an officer. During this time, for four years, from 1951 - 1955, he took a leave of absence to serve his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean WarHis hobbies included coin collecting, hunting, fishing, water skiing and spending time at the property he purchased on the Pedernales River.He was an elder at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served many years. He also served as a youth counselor, as well as financial secretary for several years. He was a loving, kind man and a very fine person in every way.He married Mary Ann Shanks on December 22, 1950, and is survived by his loving wife of 60 years and their daughter, Sharon Ann Bergland of Killeen. Survivors also include his four grandchildren, Cristin Prather Adkins and her fiancé, Chris Taylor of Friendswood, McLean and Michelle Prather of Killeen, Erin Cullinan of College Station, and Tyler Wade Carpenter of Killeen; four great- grandchildren, Railey and Brennan Adkins, and Xander and Bryce Prather; and sister-in-law, Sibyl Faught of Austin; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear friends.
