

Our beloved Mary Wilma Edwards passed away peacefully in Bastrop, Texas on Friday April 24, 2015 at the age of 80. Wilma was born on July 3, 1934 in Danville, Kentucky to Utis L. and Ursula Edwards. She lived a long life and was devoted to the Lord until her passing. She was a longtime member of Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin, Texas where she enjoyed studying the word and teaching Sunday school. In her youth, Wilma attended the Texas School for the Blind and received her high school diploma in 1953. She went on to attend Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1960. Wilma taught elementary school which was one of her greatest pleasures. She always had many stories to tell of the children who had so touched her life. She often baked cakes for friends and family each decorated with care and love. One of Wilma's favorite pastimes was playing piano and singing from her hymnal.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents & siblings and is survived by her younger brother Travis H. Edwards, Sr. She did not have children of her own, but had many nieces and nephews and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Burial services will be held at Austin Memorial Park on Wednesday April 29, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.
