Mary Martin Minchew entered the gates of heaven on the morning of March 3, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. Mary was born July 12, 1952, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Frances Griggs Martin and William Howard Martin. Growing up, she was a fun-loving, charismatic girl who loved music and any chance to crack a good joke.
After graduating from Wichita Falls High School in 1970, Mary attended Sophie Newcomb in New Orleans for a year and later transferred to the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a proud member of Pi Beta Phi.
She then returned to her hometown of Wichita Falls, where she was reunited with an old high school friend, Gary Minchew, whom she married on December 7, 1980. They were blessed with a daughter in November 1981.
Mary was known for her generosity, compassion, and fierce love for those she called friends and family. She was happiest at the beach, enjoying live music and traveling. She is survived by her daughter, Maren Minchew Anderson, and husband, Sean Edward Anderson, granddaughter Saylor Martin Anderson, two nephews, William Bradford Majors and Jonathan Blake Majors, and brother-in-law, Warren Gregory Bair.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gary Joe Minchew, parents, William Howard Martin and Frances Griggs Martin, and her sister, Ann Howard Martin Bair.
Family and friends are invited to services on Saturday, March 9, at 11:30 at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home Chapel, 5416 Parkcrest Dr, Austin, TX 78731. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the charity of your choice or to the Texas Kidney Foundation.
