
Mary Marcelle Loveless Walden (Sandie) was born April 9, 1940, in Lubbock, Texas to Charles Arthur. and Mary Marcelle Loveless nee. Anderson. After returning from deployment in WWII, Charles moved the family to Olton, Texas in 1945, where Sandie spent her formative years.
Sandie graduated from Olton High School in 1958 and attended Howard Payne College in Brownwood. Sandie graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1963 and returned to Olton to marry farmer John Amos Walden. Sandie settled into farm life and in November of 1969, the family welcomed a son, Bobby, and in July of 1973, a son Larry.
Sandie was an active wife and mother, and when the boys began school, she began her career at Olton State Bank, where she worked until her retirement in 2018.
Sandie was active in the community. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Olton where she sang in the choir, She was a scout leader and a volunteer with the Olton Livestock Show where she handled all the records for both the Livestock Association and the local FFA Chapter. Sandie organized numerous blood drives in the community and was a volunteer and driver for the Olton Volunteer Ambulance Association for over twenty years. Sandie was recognized as Woman of the Year in 2003 by the Olton Chamber of Commerce.
Sandie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marcelle Loveless of Olton, and her brothers Samuel L. Loveless of Olton, who passed in childhood, and Charles E. Loveless of North Augusta, South Carolina. She is survived by her sons Bobby L. Walden of Austin, Larry E. Walden of Lubbock, and her grandson Ashton L. Walden of Des Moines, Iowa, as well as her brother Glenn Loveless and his wife Sue of Ocala, Florida, and numerous, very loved, nieces and nephews and their families.
A private burial will be administered by Cook-Walden Funeral Directors and Sandie will be laid to rest in Forest Oaks Memorial Park in Austin. A memorial service is planned in Olton for the spring of 2023.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Sandie’s memory to the Olton Volunteer Ambulance Association, 608 8th St, Olton, TX 79064.
