Mary E. Welbes

Mary Evelyn “Stacy” Green Welbes, age 78, of Austin passed away on Monday, June 27, 2005. She was born on July 4, 1926 in Detroit Michigan to John Marvin and Doris Nash Green. Stacy received her Registered Nurses degree at Baylor School of Nursing in Dallas, Texas and was employed as an RN by Brackenridge Hospital in Austin. She was a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of their choir for 35 years (1970-2005), as well as Girl Scouts of America, Adult Leader and Nurse Camp Texlake; Gabriel Project Coordinator. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Edward Green and Robert Arthur Green, both of Las Vegas Nevada; her sister-in-law, Sister Mary Jonann Welbes, BVM; and two brothers-in-law, Joseph Doyle of Waterloo, Iowa and Donald Welbes of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Stacy is survived by her husband of 50 years, Al; her daughter, Kim; her son, Mike and his wife, Susan and their children, Sarah and Rachel; and her brother, Fredrick Erin Green of Lake Elsinore, California; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marcella Doyle, Ray and Anita Frost, Jack and Pat Welbes, all of Waterloo, Iowa and Arlene Welbes of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Other survivors include Margaret Fadal of Waco, Texas “best friend on earth and the sister she never had”; Stacy Rene Coker “favorite namesake”; Melanie Barnes of Austin, Texas “best girlfriend and companion”; Tricia Becerra of Corona, California “favorite niece and kindred spirit”; and Becky Harper of Austin, Texas “longtime friend and co-worker”. Stacy will lie in state at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29th. Rosary services will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 30th at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2005 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Austin with Father Matt Iwuji officiating followed by interment at 2:00 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
