

She graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA and moved to Austin to teach at the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) where she taught for 32 years. In Austin, she met Joseph Marks and they were married on July 30, 1955. They established their home in South Austin and were active members of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. They were married for 29 years until his death.
Mary Jane was active in AGE of Central Texas, Beta Sigma Phi, Capital City Village, Catholic Daughters of America, and Seton Cove.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, husband Joe, son Andrew Marks, and great-grandson Sean Marks. She is survived by her daughter Mary Marks, sons Mike Marks and wife Rhonda, Chris Marks and wife Karen, daughter-in-law Sondra Marks, 7 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank all the staff and friends at Parsons House for their care and kindness during the past few years.
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Ave., Austin, Texas with visitation at 9:00 A.M., service at 10:00 A.M., followed by burial at Assumption Cemetery.
