

Maura Rose Kampa was born at home in Austin on March 12, 1995 and perished in her south austin home on November 30, 2014. She is survived by her parents David and Marcellina Kampa and brother, Derek, grandparents Jim and Betty Kampa of Austin and Maura McNally of Dallas, 9 uncles, 6 aunts, and 11 cousins. She is also survived by Margie, her black pup partner in crime, who has been adopted by the Walter and Jennifer Long family.
Maura was a graduate of St. Austin Catholic School and the Academy for Global Studies at Stephen F. Austin High. Following the tradition of her grandmother Betty, she was a member and performer with the Red Dragon Players. At the time of her death she was a digital design student at Austin Community College. She was also a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts, who will be flying their flag at half-mast in her honor.
Maura was a fiercely loyal friend and fearless advocate of human rights. She defended all, and judged no one. She had a quick wit and playful approach to life. Her generous spirit is demonstrated by the gift of her corneas, heart valve, skin and other parts of her beautiful being that will no doubt give life and hope to countless people.
Maura had friends from almost every walk of life, and she embraced the diverse culture of Austin to it's fullest. Her special friends include Jezelle, Jack, Hayden, Thomas, David, Shravan, James, Zach, Eli, Alex, Sam, and roommates Quentin and Jeff. Miriam, Bonnie, Abbie, Erin, and countless others that she pulled into her orbit. She worked at several of Austin's landmark restaurants, including Amy's, ZAX, Clarks, Josephine House and Jeffrey's. She loved every minute of it.
Visitation will be at Cook Walden funeral home, 6100 N. Lamar on Wednesday 12/3 from 5-7 with a vigil service at 7, after which we will pray the rosary.
Funeral Mass will be at St. Austin's Catholic Church at 11 am on Thursday 12/4 at 2026 Guadalupe St, Austin, TX 78705. The parking garage entrance is at 500 W. MLK.
