Maurine Sullivan Harris of Dripping Springs, Texas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at the age of 93. She was born on December 21, 1925 in Los Angeles, Texas. She graduated from Almeda High School and then went to work at Ellington Field Air Force Base, Houston, as a stenographer.
In 1946, Maurine met the love of her life, Calvin, on a blind date. They were married on May 11, 1947. Maurine and Calvin were married for 68 years prior to Calvin’s passing in 2015. Together they went on to have three children. Maurine was a meticulous homemaker, a wonderful cook, and a caring wife and mother.
After several family vacations to Red River, New Mexico, Maurine and Calvin purchased a home where they enjoyed the cool climate and fresh mountain air. The Southwest culture was their passion.
Maurine was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord. She was a faithful member of the Baptist church until her latter years.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Nolen Dain Sullivan, and great-grandson, Luke Hays. Maurine is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ray Hentschel; son, Kent Harris; daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Kirk McGlamery; grandchildren, Shane Poteet (Jean), Marcus Harris, Lisa Hays (Cody), Allison Fleming (Patrick), Aaron Raesz; great-grandchildren, Weston Poteet, Harrison Poteet, Cadie Hays, Hudson Hays, Tom Fleming and Bowman Fleming.
Visitation: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Friday, August 9, 2019 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas.
Graveside Service: Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 10:30 am at Forest Oaks Memorial Cemetery, Oak Hill.
