Born November 5, 1930 in Giddings, Texas. His parents, Robert and Elsie had their hands full raising Max and his nine siblings during the depression era. Max worked hard at a very young age, milking cows at varies dairies and the Fairmont Egg Processing facility. He played all sports, except track in high school. He delivered newspapers across town before school.
He was a baseball pitcher in the community league with a gifted curveball. He won a state tennis championship while attending Blinn Jr. College. He completed his civil engineering degree at the University of Texas. He attended class during the day and studied at night, while operating elevators at the state office buildings.
On August 30th 1952, he married his lifetime soulmate Lanette (Faske). His next adventure in life was spent in the Air Force and Air Force Reserves; where, he rose to the rank of Major. The next few years were spent working for Phillips Petroleum in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. A love for family, St. Paul Church and Texas drew the young couple back to Austin.
The next 35 years would be spent working for the Texas Highway department. During this period, one Daughter (Stephanie) and one son (Scott) would enter the world. Having such a strong work ethic, idle time was not an option. The next 60 years would be spent; as a weekend rancher, raising more than 300 head of cattle at times, weather permitting.
A loving husband, father and servant of the Lord; this is a mere glimpse into the wonderful life of Max Fariss.
