Michael Kurt Evans of Austin passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Michael grew up in Amarillo, TX and worked for Amarillo Globe News until he moved to Austin in 1981 where he worked for the Austin American Statesman for 28 years.
Michael was always trying to help others, even after he became ill. He had many friends in Amarillo, Austin and abroad. He loved his cats, was an accomplished photographer and enjoyed collecting and refinishing antiques. Everyone who knew him recognized his kind heart and generous nature.
Michael is survived by his sister and only sibling, Eydie Walker Fletcher; her husband, Nicholas C. Fletcher of Austin; uncle and aunt, Lynn and Patsy Laningham of Amarillo; cousin, Kay Huddleston and her husband Scott of Amarillo; and many friends; especially Marilyn Moeller of Austin.
No funeral service, however, Eydie and Marilyn will plan a dinner celebration of Mike's life at a later date. Please contact ([email protected]) for future details.
