Mildred Lee Mullins Blasdell was born September 12, 1930 in Houston, TX and passed away January 18, 2025 at the age of 94. She resided in the Memory Care unit of The Enclave at Cedar Park Senior Living from April 2021 until her death. She may have lost many of her memories but she never lost her beautiful smile.
When Mildred was fifteen she began a four year courtship with the love of her life, Jonathan Blasdell, who she knew through church activities and family connections. They were married in 1949 and their marriage lasted 49 years until Jon’s death in 1998.
Jon and Mildred began their life together in Houston. After completing business school, Mildred worked as a secretary at various times during her life. Mildred and Jon raised their son Larry and daughter Carolyn in the Spring Branch area of Houston.
The family relocated to Fort Lauderdale, FL in 1969 when Jon began working for Racal-Milgo in Miami. During this time of their life Jon and Mildred were able to enjoy travels to many states and parts of the country. Mildred was a great hostess to their many friends and visitors while they lived in Florida. They relocated to Austin TX in 1976.
Mildred was a loving mother but her favorite role was as a grandmother. She is survived by her son Larry Blasdell and his wife Rachel Chesnutt Blasdell along with her daughter Carolyn Blasdell and husband Mike Hemer. Mildred had five grandchildren: Michael Blasdell (wife Sarah Peterson Blasdell), Sara Blasdell and Emily Blasdell along with Kevin Hemer (wife Caitlin Campbell) and Jonathan Hemer. She also has two great grandchildren: Lucille Blasdell and Ellen Blasdell.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband Jon, and her parents, George Mullins and Frances McGill Mullins. She was also predeceased by her father’s four daughters from his first marriage and many extended family members and friends that she loved dearly.
Mildred’s faith was very important to her. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She most recently attended Westover Hills Church of Christ after moving to Austin. She spent time working with InKind, Inc. and World Bible School until her health failed her.
The family would like to thank the staff at Enclave for the support and excellent care they gave Mildred. Thanks also to Suncrest Hospice for their care.
A private family graveside service is planned.
