

With my deep love and affection for my adorable Mother, Modesta Benites Rositas, I have the opportunity to inform family and friends of her meeting with Christ Our Lord. Mom struggled and fought for her life, and with the power of our Almighty God and prayers from family and friends made continuous progress, in spite of all odds, with spiritual strength and smiles for everyone. Mom was sent from Heaven to be with us on Earth February 24th, 1935. . Given birth to her, were her parents Juan and Elena Benites. On early morning March 17th our Almighty Father carried her away back home in Heaven, freed from all pain and suffering.
Mom worked at a laundry with my Grandma Elena, then met Dad while picking cotton in fields Mom married Dad on April 27, 1952. Later in life worked as a Teacher's Aide for AISD schools and also as Extend-a-Care Assistant at Brooke Elementary. She also worked as a Child Care Provider in Mother Goose Day Care , Open Door Nursery, and for Central Presbyterian Church Daycare. Mom had love and compassion for children, her family, and friends. She loved to write, sent all her loved ones Christmas cards every year, and she also loved embroidery, planting, and baking.
Survivors include myself, her oldest daughter Mary Esther Rositas, son Manuel and youngest son Peter Paul Rositas. Mom's younger daughters and their families: Rosemarie Rositas-Mendez and husband Chris. Mom's cherished Granddaughter Ariana Mendez and beloved Grandson Jonathan Mendez. Also her older Grandsons whom she loved and was so proud of, CJ and Jeffrey Mendez.
Mom's youngest daughter, Mary Alice Rositas-Cantu and husband Paul. Mom's oldest beloved Grandchildren Paul Cantu III and wife Erica, and her lovely Granddaughter Angel Cantu. Angel's loving visits to her Grandma brightened and cheered her up, making her smile. Also her other two beloved grandchildren,Silbestre("Silver") and Isaac Cantu. Mom is also survived by future Great Grand daughter Alina, due in 7 weeks from now.
Survived by her sister Frances Ancira, Sister-in Law Pauline Benites, both from Austin. Brothers–In-Law Compadre Edward Rositas and his wife Comadre Anita, Tony Rositas, and Paul Ojeda. Sisters-In-Law Comadre Sandy Ojeda, Romana Rositas, Comadre Rosemarie Acosta (husband Compadre Raymond Acosta), Consuelo Garcia from Houston, TX , and Janie Castillo. Also survived by her special friend/niece Anita Rodriguez plus numerous other nieces and nephews. Survived also by numerous friends.
Mom was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years Silbestre Rositas Jr., her oldest son Silbestre III, beautiful baby Grandchild, Isaiah Mendez, beloved parents Juan and Elena Benites. Preceded in death also by her oldest brother, Andres Rodriguez from Sabinal, TX and youngest brother Manuel Benites. Also preceded in death by her sister Janie Benites from Lubbock, TX, and oldest sister Eloisa Gamboa from Austin, and her Sister-In Law Isabel Rodriguez from Sabinal, TX.. Preceded in death also by the following: her Father and Mother-in-Law Silbestre and Felipa Rositas. Brothers-In-Law Frank Ancira, Joe Gamboa, Ernest Ojeda, Juan Rositas, Santiago Vidouria (and wife Antonia), Felix Rositas from Michigan, and Miguel Rositas (and wife Elena). Also preceded in death by Sister-in-Law, Luisa Ojeda.
Services will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Ave. all morning and afternoon on Thursday March 20th. Recitation of rosary conducted by nephew Deacon Edward Rositas at 7:00 p.m. Music by son, Manuel Rositas. Poetry by Grandchildren and Eulogy by Son-in-Law Chris Mendez. Interment will take place on Friday, March 21st, at Assumption Cemetery, after Church Service at St. Peter The Apostle located on 4600 E. Ben White, officiated by Father Richard Tijerina. Pallbearers include John Benites, Paul Cantu, Jesse Rodriguez, Louis Ojeda, Raymond Acosta, and Roy Rositas. Honorary pallbearers are Son-in-Law Chris Mendez and nephews Adrian Benites and Leonard Pena.
