

Naomi Ruth Ellis Sharpe, 97, passed peacefully of natural causes on April 26, 2026. Born in San Marcos TX on Sept. 28, 1928, she was the last surviving child of 9 born to Rev. Watt Watkins Ellis and Rev. Thala Ellis.
Naomi was a long-time resident of Austin having worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone, the Texas House of Representatives, Governor Connally’s office, Tracor Inc., Charles Maund Oldsmobile and Re/Max Heart of Texas Realtors. She was a natural working in front of the public, always a big smile and inviting presence that made anyone feel important and welcome. Working at Tracor for 25 years as chief operator, she became affectionately known as the “voice of Tracor”. The family is blessed to have so many stories of her full life of 97 years. She will be deeply missed.
Naomi is survived by her children, Nelson Sharpe (Betty), Michael Sharpe (Jackie) and Kevin Sharpe, grandchildren Christopher Sharpe, Jessica Barron (Dane), Ryan Sharpe and Kyle Sharpe; 3 great-grandchildren Madison Barron, Kaitlyn Barron and Abigail Barron. She is preceded in death by her parents, son Larry Sharpe, grandson Shaun Sharpe and daughters-in-law Clara Jean Croy, Kelly Sharpe and Cyd Powers.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Will-O-Bell Nursing Home of Bartlett Tx. for their five years of compassionate care and companionship. We would also like to thank the staff and caregivers of Amedisys Hospice and Visiting Angels of Temple for their loving care which brought comfort and peace to us all.
Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar, Austin, TX 78752, US, on May 2, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at Fall Creek Cemetery, Spicewood, Tx, 26707 State Hwy 71, Spicewood, TX 78669, US, on May 2, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
