

He was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on May 2, 2026.
Nellum attended the Kilgore Colored School. Nellum worked as a caddy at local golf course and later enlisted in the United States Army in 1963. He served his country faithfully for 20 years and received an honorable discharge. Following his military service, he was employed with the IRS in custodial services, where he made many lasting friendships before eventually retiring.
Nellum was united in marriage to Pearl O. Calvert in January 1965, and to this union two children, Andre’ and Adrienne Manning, were born.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his brothers, Robert, Arthur, and Cecil Manning; his sisters, Earline Roy, Auzie B. Campbell, Freddie Mae Manning, Myrtle Lee Reese, and Carrie Nell Stafford; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law; and his beloved wife, Pearl O. Manning.
Left to cherish his loving memory are his children, Andre’ and Adrienne Manning, both of Austin; his brother, J.B. Manning; his brother-in-law, Tommy “T.C.” Calvert; his sisters-in-laws, Nina Taylor (James) of Florida, Lisa Woods, and Monica Hicks of San Antonio; his grandson, Cleave Marquis Duncan (Elyssa); his great-grandson, Joseph Sage Duncan; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
For no one is cast off by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love. For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to anyone.
