Nelva Rae Bean Kramp, of Austin, Texas, passed away May 7, 2020 at age 85. Nelva was born in Taylor, Texas on April 12, 1935 to Leon Bean and Frieda Thornquist Bean. She married Roscoe Roy Kramp on December 18, 1953. Roy and Nelva traveled the country for Roy’s work, finally settling in Austin, Texas in 1960.
Together they owned and managed an electronics business and a security alarm service. In addition, the Kramps, along with their daughters, raised German Shepherd Dogs and Rottweilers.
Nelva was an active member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church in Austin where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She also served as a travel director for AARP, having led groups on many trips around the country.
She is survived by her daughters Diana Lynn (Bethany) Kramp, Karla Kramp Starkweather, Lisha Kramp Pitts and husband Roger; her grandchildren Ryan Leigh Roark, Nic Starkweather and wife Melissa; her sister Valerie Hinton; her sister-in-law Evelyn Kramp; her nieces and nephews Brandi Hinton Rountree (Stan), Lance Hinton, Deborah Kramp Corr (Paul), Steven Kramp (Michelle) and Kathy Kramp Lancaster (Joe); and her best friend of 50 years, May F. Depew. Nelva’s first great grandchild will be born in September 2020. Hopefully, she is getting to know that sweet baby now as she rests in God’s arms.
Nelva was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roscoe Roy Kramp, brothers-in-law Willis R. Kramp and Richard Hinton, and son-in-law Michael Dean Starkweather.
A Celebration of Nelva’s Life will be held on Sunday, May 10 at 12:15 p.m. Because of current restrictions due to COVID, the service will be limited to family and will be live streamed at live.WalnutCreekbc.org for all her friends and church members. All who attend in person will be encouraged to wear masks and practice social distancing for the safety of all. Burial will be immediately following the service at Lund Cemetery in Lund, Texas.
