

Pansy Ruth Jones Brooke passed away in Seton Hospital on January 1, 2006 after a lengthy illness and renal failure, with her loving family at her side. She was 80 years old. She was born on January 14, 1925 in Linden, Texas. Her parents were Reuben Franklin and Gladys Blalock Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Audrey Carolyn Jones (baby), and Pat Jones Gunn, of Lakeway, Texas. She married Bennett T. Brooke in July 28, 1944 in Jefferson, Texas. Bennett and Pansy's first child, Bennett Franklin Brooke was born in Sherman, Texas on September 29, 1945. Their daughter Melinda Ann Broke was born on February 12, 1952. In 1953, they moved to Big Spring, Texas. They moved to Austin, Texas in 1978. While in Austin, they owned the Cats Meow Childrens Store, Ace Drug Mart-Burnet, and The Lakeway Pharmacy. In 1991, they built a home and moved to Lakeway, Texas. While living in Big Spring, Texas for 28 years, Pansy was active in various church organizations in St. Marys Episcopal Church, and helped in building St. Marys Episcopal Church. Pansy was a member of St Lukes on the Lake Episcopal Church in Austin, Texas. Pansy is survived by her husband, of 61 years, Bennett T. Brooke, of Lakeway, son, Bennett F. Brooke of Austin and his wife Brenda G. Brooke, her daughter, Melinda Brooke Grissom and her husband Bill Witt of Lakeway. She has three surviving grandchildren, Michele Arias, Brooke Arias, and Mark Scott Grissom. She is survived by her brother-in-law and his children, Russ Gun of Lakeway, son Stephen Gunn of Fort Worth, and daughter Lou Anne Gunn of San Antonio. Her family and friends wish to thank her friends, the doctors and nurses, especially Dr. Tom McHorse, Dr. William McCarran, Dr. Milton Talbot, and Dr. Sam Waters for their care and support during her illness. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial contributions to St. Lukes on the Lake Episcopal Church, American Heart Society, or American Cancer Society.
