

She fought a year and 1/2 long battle with lung disease. She was predeceased by her Mother and Father John and Dorothy Longan; sister, Kathy Winston; and husband John McGill who died August 30th, 2010.
Pat is survived by son Tim Tompkins and wife Karis of Raleigh, NC; son Mark Tompkins and wife Lisa, who is expecting, of Cornelius, NC and their two daughters Marua, eight, and Lillia, four. Also surviving are brothers in law Bob McGill and wife Nancy of League City, Texas; Jim McGill and wife Beth of Houston, Texas; Steve McGill and wife Kathy of Denver, Colorado; and sister in law Betsy Stephenson and husband John of Round Rock, Texas. Also surviving are her father in law Charlie McGill of Dallas, Texas.
Pat has a Masters degree in social work and a Ph.D. in special education. Her Masters was earned at Catholic University and Ph.D. from the University of Texas. She has over 47 years experience in human services including work in child welfare, treatment centers for children and adolescents, and teaching at the University of Texas at Austin and the College of Santa Fe. She was also executive director of Las Cumbres Learning Center offering programs for people with learning disabilities and their families. Most recently she provided psychotherapy to children in Austin. Pat was the author of many publications and co-author of the text book "Survival in the Public Schools in the 1990's".
Pat was affectionately known as Grandma Pat and was a proud Grandma to Maura and Lillia. She also loved her Jack Russell Pippen.
A memorial service will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home 2620 S. Congress Austin, Texas 78704 on Thursday, December 30th at 2pm. There may also be a yet to be determined service in Santa Fe to spread some ashes of Grandma Pat and "Grandfather" John. A heartfelt thank you goes out the Seton Hospital doctors and nurses, palliative care team and Dr. Mark Clark.
