

Phillip Arford Cook Phillip Arford Cook passed away on December 9, 2003 due to a sudden illness. He was born on April 23rd, 1970 in El Dorado, Arkansas. Phillip was raised in Houston, Texas, graduating from Memorial Senior High School Class of 1988. He attended the University of Texas where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Phillip was also a member of MENSA. He began his career in Mexico City, Mexico working at the American Chamber of Commerce. After moving to Austin, Texas, Phillip worked for Dames and Moore/URS as a Project Accountant. Phillip was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed fly fishing and hunting in Alaska, Africa, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico and Texas. He had found a new haven at his family ranch Tres Chivos Viejos in Mason, Texas. Phillip will be remembered for his quick wit, sarcastic sense of humor - but mostly for his sense of devotion to his friends and his caring for others. Phillip is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Carroll and Marion Cook, his maternal grandfather Eugene Arford, his mother Phyllis Arford Cook and his eldest brother, Carroll Clarke Cook Jr. He is survived by his father, Carroll Clarke Cook, Sr., his sisters Virginia Hickson and husband David, Patricia Cook, Elizabeth McMillian and her husband Scott, and his brother Ned Cook and his wife Shannon. He had 7 nieces: Samantha Hickson, Meredith Hickson, Caroline Hickson, Morgan McMillian, Jessica Lovelace, Alexis Cook and Kelli Mijares. He had one nephew his namesake Connor Phillip McMillian. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Edith Arford, his maternal uncle Gene Arford and his wife Camille and maternal aunt Beverly Shutack and husband Michael, and many cousins. Services will be held Saturday, December 13th, 2003 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3003 Northland, Austin, Texas at 2 PM with the Reverend Lynne Hall officiating. The family would like to express their gratitude to Russ Shore, Joe Early and Mike Miller for all their help, support and kindness during this hard time. His family would also like to acknowledge the outpouring of love and support from his friends from high school, college and the work place. Phillip was blessed with many friends whom he held very close to his heart.
