With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Mona Rocha, who was born in 1941 and a lifelong resident of McAllen, Texas, announces her peaceful passing on Saturday, March 14, 2026, as she went to be with the Lord in her sleep. Mona was a woman whose life was guided by her strong faith in God and a deep devotion to her family and friends. Her kindness, warmth, and compassion touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Mona dedicated many years of her life to serving as an in-school suspension (ISS) teacher in the McAllen Independent School District, where she made a lasting impact on countless students. With patience, understanding, and a firm but compassionate approach, she saw beyond mistakes and believed in each student’s potential to grow and succeed. She offered guidance, encouragement, and accountability, helping young people find direction and confidence during difficult moments in their lives. Many students left her classroom not only with lessons learned, but with a renewed sense of self-worth—forever changed for the better by her care and belief in them. Through her patience, encouragement, and genuine care, she helped guide those who knew her toward the grace of God and made those who were struggling feel peace and loved because they believed that she was someone who truly believed in them. Mona shared many years of love with her husband, Phillip Rocha Jr., who preceded her in death. Together they built a family rooted in love, faith, and strong values. She is lovingly remembered by her three children, in order from eldest to youngest : Philip Rocha III (Sylvia Ochoa), Cynthia Christine Rocha, Catherine Lucille Allman (Donald Allman) Mona was a proud and devoted grandmother, “Nani”, to her beloved grandchildren: Riece Kaitlyn Crittenden and her husband Mitchell, and Caden Ray Floyd, who brought her immense joy and pride. She is also survived by her brother, Andres Segovia, and her sister, Paula Estrada, along with many sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and dear friends who will cherish her memory. Mona will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous heart, and the way she uplifted those around her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched—through her family, her friends, and the many students who were fortunate enough to receive her guidance and care.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace and reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved her. Services for Mona Rocha will be held on Thursday, March 19th, with a visitation beginning at 5:30 p.m. and a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Corley Fish Funeral Home.
