After a very meaningful and honorable life, Raul Weaver’s journey ended here on earth in the early morning hours of August 1. Raul passed peacefully at age 61 in Austin, Texas due to complications from cancer. His family and friends remember him as someone who always had the biggest smile and who lived life on his own terms.
Raul was born in Earth, Texas on December 03, 1962. He grew up in Harlingen before moving to Austin in 1985, remaining close with friends from his early years throughout his life. He worked for Randall’s for 14 years and HEB for 22 years, including as a manager in the Seafood department. He was commonly known as “the mayor” due to his innate ability to connect with co-workers and customers alike.
Raul loved looking through cookbooks and learning new recipes to cook for family and friends. He watched every Cowboy’s and Longhorn’s game and was an avid fisherman. He loved live music, his dad’s ’85 El Camino, and spending time in his backyard hot tub. Raul was someone that deeply valued kindness and treating others with respect, something that was clear to anyone who met him. More than anything, he loved spending time with his wife and soulmate of 33 years, Tina, and spoke to anyone who would listen about the pride he had for his children Emily and Kendall. He truly lived life with no regrets.
Raul is preceded in death by his parents, Rafaela and Esmerehildo Weaver. He is survived by his wife, Tina, children Emily and Kendall, and siblings Roy, Richard, and Ruth, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. The family wishes to thank the critical care doctors, nurses, and staff at St. David’s South Austin for their compassionate care in Raul’s last weeks of life, as well as Dr. Punit Chadha and the team at Texas Oncology for their diligent care.
Services will be held at the Weed-Corely-Fish funeral home at 5416 Parkcrest Drive in Austin, Texas, 78731 from 6:30PM-8:30PM on Monday, August 5. In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to the Texas Oncology Foundation, which supports cancer patients and their families. May we resolve to honor Raul’s memory by filling the dark and hurting places on this side of Heaven with more light, love and beauty of our own.
