

He was born on April 23, 1938 to Benito and Juanita Delgado. Ray lived a full and accomplished life as Golden Glove Boxer, service member in the National Guard, Real Estate investor, owner of Hobo Joe's BBQ Restaurant, and owner of several blues clubs throughout Texas through which he provided the means to Jimmy and Stevie Ray Vaughn to produce an early demo. Ray was a generous and compassionate person that was always willing to help both family and strangers. He is dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all, especially his family.
Ray is preceded by his parents, nine siblings and daughter Rebecca. He is survived by his wife Norma, Sister Virginia, son Richard, daughters Irene and Marisol, twelve grand children, two great-grandsons, and his step-children.
The family wishes thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff that cared for Ray in his final days.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening, on Friday, the 8th of February 2013, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. A Rosary will follow at seven o’clock.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 9th of February, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5909 Reicher Drive, Austin, Texas . Interment will follow in Cook-Walden Forest Oaks cemetery under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
