Richard Pablo Leigh was born in Pontiac, Michigan in 1934 to William Louis Leigh and Ruth Martha (Sedgwick) Leigh. Richard is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Ester Leigh, his mother and father, Arthur and Bertha Porterfield (bonus grandma/grandpa), his 8 siblings Margaret, William, Evelyn, Lola, Mary Ellen, Robert (Bob), Gerry, Joanne and great grandson Rowan Arthur Leigh. He is survived by his four sons, James, Ronald, Timothy and Daniel and their wives, 12 grandchildren plus their spouses, and 11 great grandchildren. Richard served in the United States Airforce between 1952 – 1960, including The US National Guard. He met and married the love of his life, Barbara Ester Whitsitt on March 16th, 1957, in Rochester, Michigan. Richard went to work for Hughes Aircraft in California shortly after the wedding. Late 1960’s Richard and family moved back to Michigan. In 1972, the family moved to Texas for better job opportunities. After a few years in Texas, Richard, Barbara and family joined Southwest Christian Church (SWCC) and were members over 5 decades. Around 1977 Richard moved his family a short distance to Sunset Valley, where the family lived for over 50 years. Richard dedicated his time and energy to the Sunset Valley community. He served on many boards to help make Sunset Valley the thriving community it is today. The SWCC and Sunset Valley Community help him form the bond of his faith, dedication to his family, community and the strength to endure what God had in store. Well done, my good and faithful servant. Welcome home, may you rest in peace.
