Our beloved Robbi Lynn Sluder, 58, of Austin, Texas, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Thursday night March 2, 2017. Robbi was widely known for founding The Magdalene Project, an outreach that impacted the lives of thousands of people all across the nation, and for being instrumental in the creation of several other ministries. Her primary focus in life was to serve her Lord and others.
Robbi was born to Robert and Kathy Reno on February 21, 1959, in San Diego, CA. She spent her school years in Needville, TX, where she was a Drum Major in the Marching Band. She graduated from Needville High School and then attended The University of Texas at Austin. Robbi, along with her husband Randy Sluder, founded a number of businesses and non-profit organizations primarily Altrua HealthShare, a national health care sharing ministry.
She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Reno; niece, Rebecca Reno Morris; and granddaughter, Esther Grace Sluder. She is survived by her husband, Randy Sluder; son and daughter in-law, Joshua and Megan Sluder; daughter, Alyssa Sluder; two grandchildren, Wyatt and Brynlee; mother, Kathy Reno; sister, Gina Reno Woodlee; brother, Ronny Reno; and six nieces and nephews.
Robbi lived a very relational and purposeful life. Each lovely creation, each contact with a friend, each outreach and decision had forethought and meaning, and touched the lives of countless others. She loved planning inspirational programs, complex events, memorable celebrations, dressing up in costumes she designed and laughter. She was an accomplished flutist and recently began playing again, as yet another way to express her unwavering love for her King. Robbi left a special treasure with every person she encountered. She leaves a legacy to those who follow of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. She was in love with her husband, her children, her family, her friends, her church and most of all her Savior Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be held at 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday, March 10, 2017, at Life Austin Church, 8901 W Highway 71, Austin, TX. To honor Robbi’s zest for life, please wear happy colors instead of black.
