

Robert Dawson, age 55, died Friday, July 27, 2007. Robert was born on March 26, 1952 in Bad Hersfeld, Germany to Wilbur Clark Dawson and Hildegarde Bischof Dawson. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BS and MS in Physics. Robert worked as a Semi-Conductor Engineer at AMD and Spansion in research and development. He is the recipient of over 140 patents. Roberts past-times included reloading and target shooting as well as hunting. He also enjoyed working on computers. He liked to joke about his new convertible, a bulldozer. Robert was a member of Ducks Unlimited and a Life Member of the American Rife Association. In the past four years, Robert faced many challenges and adversities associated with ALS and Lyme Disease. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Clark Dawson. Survivors include his mother, Hildegarde Dawson of Columbia, South Carolina; his wife, Annette Swint Dawson of Austin; one daughter, Amanda Karoline Dawson of Austin; one sister, Charlott Caudle of Columbia, South Carolina; and one brother, Wilbur C. Dawson, Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina, one niece, one nephew and three great-nieces. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 31, at 11:00 a.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar with Fr. Gregory Romanski officiating.
