Our beloved, Robert Corpus Perez, age 62, left us after a brief battle with cancer. He lived his last days as he had always lived as an active member of his church, loving life and pursuing his passions of parachuting, guns, motorcycles, enjoying the company of family and friends.
He was born in Austin, TX on February 23, 1959 and peacefully joined our Heavenly Father on Monday, August 9, 2021 in the comfort of his sister's home.
He is survived by his two sons, Robert Jr. and Edward Haist Perez, his sisters Rachel Vesper, Aurora Perez, Mary Helen Speed, Anna Marie Coulter, Bernadette Mertens and his brother Anthony Gerard Perez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Lucille Perez and his older brother, Ruben Perez Jr. Special mention must be made about his two most devoted friends, Edward Rapier who was his best friend since the age of thirteen and CA Phil, his motorcycle brother.
He served in the US Army's 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell KS Jan '87 to Jan '89 as a light Wheel Mechanic where he earned his Good Conduct Medal, Expert Badge M16 Rifle, Air Assault Badge as well as other honors. He spent most of the rest of his career as a welder after going to community college to earn several degrees in this profession.
A rosary service for Robert will be held Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar, Austin, TX 78752. Donations can be made to Tunnels to Towers or Wounded Warrior Project in lieu of flowers.
Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Jay Foreman, Nicholas Anthony Perez, Edward Rapier, Kirk Edward Coulter, Jeremy Speed and Benjamin Neal Davis.
