(This obituary is based on an obituary that Robin wrote for herself)
Robin Elaine Walker passed peacefully on February 5th, 2019. Robin was born in 1958 in Celle, West Germany. Her parents were Clyde and Dolores Bogard. Her siblings are Catherine Bogard, David Bogard, and Barbara Bonnin. Her beloved son is Adam Walker, who is married to Allie, and their daughter is Charlie. Robin is also survived by her sister-in-law, Liz Bogard, and brother-in-law, Geoffrey Bonnin. Dear “Aunt Robin” was loved by many nieces and nephews, Cicely, Josh, Michael, Connie, Sherri, Valerie, Matthew and Natasha.
Robin grew up in Australia. At the age of 17, she came to the U.S.A. to attend college at Oklahoma State University and received a B.A. in Psychology. She moved to Kansas City where she went back to school and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
It was when she was working at the University of Kansas Medical Center that she met her husband, Charles Ernest Walker (Chuck). He was a patient waiting for a heart transplant. After his transplant, they married on June 18th, 1988. Two years later they were overjoyed to bring Adam into the world. The light of their lives. Eight years after his heart transplant, Chuck had a heart attack and could not be saved. He passed away on July 6th, 1996.
Robin and Adam later moved to Austin Texas, where they began a new life. Robin worked as a registered nurse and found much personal fulfillment in that calling.
Robin loved to write. She started writing poetry in high school and continued that endeavor throughout her life and had poems published. She also liked to write in general. The written word to her was magic.
Robin believed in a greater power. A Supreme Benevolence, also known as God. She had conversations with God all throughout her life. She believed that those loved ones who had passed from this realm of existence would be there to welcome her and that there will be peace.
She is with them now.
She also believed that those beyond the human coil could and would watch over their loved ones still on this earthly plane.
She is watching over them now and always.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Brookdale Beckett Meadows Memory Care unit who cared for Robin so well, and whose friendship Robin really appreciated.
A Memorial service will be held at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church (4800 Convict Hill Rd, Austin, TX 78749) at 10:00 am, February 18, 2019.
