Royle hired me at Sports Zone in Melrose Park, IL in 2007.  He was literally the nicest person I have ever had the pleasure knowing. I had just moved to Chicago when he hired me and he made the transition so much easier with that friendly smile of his. We kept in contact over Facebook through the years and I wondered why I hadn't heard from him until I read through the comments. I am so very sad and shocked to hear this news. Prayers to his family. He was one of a kind. 


It is hard to believe you are gone.  I was shocked when I read your sister's post.  I have a lot of memories of you from the Mart days in the 60's & 70's .  God bless your Family & Friends !

I play football at schreiner institute with royal. We were playing one of those little towns around kerrville. And we could  not get there quarterback. He would get rid of the ball to quick. Coach mac called royal to the side and told him to get the quarterback. Royal told him he gets rid of the ball to quick. Coach told him i do not care. So royal hit the quarterback and layed him out. Of course we got penilixed for it. And bood from the stands. I thought we were going to have to fight our way back on the bus to go home. Good memories. Good friends. Brothers.

Hey Royle, a fond farewell from all your lifetime brothers at Schreiner Institute, and Roddy Tree Ranch. You checked out early,but you left you keys. The keys to our hearts. God's speed from all of us., Burke

Royle hired me to be his assistant and a graphic designer for a gym in Pensacola, FL around 2002. Right from the get-go he made me feel at ease. He had that southern Texas charm. He would share some of his dating life and it would have me fall out of my chair in laughter. Oh the stories! I kept up with him when Facebook came about. He’d tease me about my politics which would usually rub me the wrong way, but not Royle. I can’t explain it. He was gentle, always smiling and just a nice guy. His death hit me hard. I hope his family is reading this and know that I’m thinking of them and missing Royle.
