

Ruth Locke, age 70, of Austin, passed gently into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 31, 2004. Her spirit was strong, but her body was tired from struggling with Pulmonary Hypertension for several years. Her easy departure was a relief for herbut a loss for those who knew this vivacious, out-going woman. Born in Goliad, Texas on January 31, 1934, Ruth Alice Bingaman graduated from Asherton High School, then graduated in 1954 from Southwest Texas Teachers College in San Marcos. Just before moving to Austin to pursue a Masters degree, she met James Locke, a young Air Force pilot from Tennessee, who shared her love of tennis. They married in October 1955. Their children, David Locke and Carol Vohs of Austin, Linda Kleman of Dripping Springs, Janet Reed of Midland, and Susan Speed of Wimberley, together with their much-loved spouses and her eleven grandchildren, were a constant pride, joy and comfort to herespecially when her husband of 45 years, passed on three years before her. Ruth delighted in her many friends. Her family thanks all who eased the burden of her illness these last few years, especially those at Seton Hospital, Pulmonary Rehab, and the Christopher House Hospice. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 5 at 10:00 A.M. at the Southwest Church of Christ, 8900 Manchaca, followed by a graveside interment of her bodys ashes.
