Sadd Jackson Jr. was born on November 11, 1941, in Kendleton, Texas, to Ruby Jean Williams and Sadd Peirce Jackson Sr. He dearly loved each of his younger brothers and sisters, taking pride in his role as the eldest.
At the age of eighteen, Sadd left his hometown of Kendleton and relocated to Austin, Texas. He worked various jobs in the construction field before beginning his career as a custodian with Austin Independent School District. While attending the Church of the New Testament in East Austin, he met the love of his life and future bride, Esther Ray Easley.
In addition to his work with AISD, Sadd later began employment with the City of Austin’s Solid Waste Services Department as a sanitation worker in the Garbage Collection Division. Through dedication and perseverance, he worked two full-time jobs to provide for his family. After more than 20 years with Austin ISD and over 25 years with the City of Austin, he was able to retire, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dependability.
In his limited free time, Sadd found joy in watching his sons excel in sports and school activities, and later took great pride in supporting his grandchildren in their pursuits as well. Many who knew him affectionately remembered him as “the dad with the blue Dickies uniform,” who rarely missed a game. He also enjoyed raising hogs and goats, reading his Bible, and faithfully serving as an usher and member of the Brotherhood Choir at the Church of the New Testament. Sadd cherished working alongside his sons through their part-time lawn service on weekends and during summers.
Sadd was known for his easygoing spirit, gentle smile, and kind, encouraging words. He was a devoted husband and father who never complained and never shirked his responsibilities, faithfully providing for his family with humility and love.
On January 17, 2026, Sadd answered the Master’s call and entered into eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Jean (Williams) Haynes; his father, Sadd Pierce Jackson Sr.; his stepmother, Dorothy Jackson; and stepfathers, Henry McCullough and Early Hanes; his siblings John Henry McCullough, Roy Chester McCullough, Pearlie Mae McCullough, Willie James McCullough, Herman Lee McCullough, Rita Jean McCullough, Henry McCullough, and Dorothy McCullough; and his beloved sons, Jimmy Lee Jackson and Andrew Louis Jackson.
Sadd leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 63 years, Esther Jackson; two sons, Timothy Jackson (Diane) and Sadd Pierce Jackson, III (Tamika); one daughter, Rosalind Renita Center (Michael); his brothers, Darrell Jackson and Leroy McCullough; his sisters, Diane Walton and Beatrice McCullough; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
