

Sam C. Hamilton, Jr., of Kerrville, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2010 after a short illness. His father, mother and son Mark predeceased him. He is survived by his close friend, Mary A. Sherwood of Kerrville, Texas; his two brothers, Paul R. Hamilton of Fredericksburg, Texas and David R. Hamilton and wife Catherine of Chicago, Illinois; son, John Hamilton of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Jessica Klebosky of Houston, Texas; cousins: Francis Fisher and daughter Francisca of Carmel, California, Bill Fisher and wife Laurie of El Segundo, California, Barbara Cutchin and husband Jerry of Franklin, Virginia, Steve Moen and wife Cathy of Mill Creek, Washington, Jim Moen of Mason City, Iowa and Nancy Moen of Mason City, Iowa. Sam attended Lamar High School in Houston, Texas where he played on the 1949 State Finals football team. He attended the University of Texas where he received a Masters Degree in Geology. Sam was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He served in the USAF, where he was a decorated instructor pilot of advanced jet aircraft. Later he flew in the Texas Air National Guard. Sam was an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman. He engaged in the oil business and hill country ranch sales business before moving to Kerrville, Texas. He retired to a beautiful scenic residence close to his boyhood haunts along the Guadalupe River. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, 11612 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77024. Memorial services will also be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Lakeway Church, 2203 Lakeway Blvd, Lakeway, TX 78734. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
