Sammy will be truly missed. I will always remember the family picnics and camping trips in our younger years.  He was full of fun and so much laughter. He is on his journey home to see his mom, dad,sisters and brother. A day will never pass that I will not think of you.  You are now looking down on us. Keep your family safe. I LOVE YOU, Sammy.

Daddy, as your namesake, I will dedicate myself to represent our family with dignity, love and honor. We were raised to be strong but gentle, caring, hardworking, faith bearing children. We have passed this legacy on to our children, your grandchildren. Alzheimer's is a cruel, terrible, aggressive, humiliating, mean, helpless, devastating, selfish disease. How dare this disease rob people of their lives, their families, their dignity, and even worse, their minds. Feeling lost and alone, wondering where your beautiful memories and loving thoughts have gone, and why the slowly faded away. We watched year after year, feeling helpless as " it" took every ounce of you slowly and slowly. Daddy, your last days were with your sons and daughters, and the loving mother of your children, Birdie Eskew. We all came together as one, your Eskew family and extended family, surrounding you with peace, love and respect as you reached the end of your horrible journey. We cried together, and reassured each other, that over the years you saw our faces, felt our love and heard our words. Your time on Earth is done now. We take comfort knowing you are in Heaven –-no more loneliness, no more pain, no tubes, doctors, anguish and frustration-- all of it. Daddy, shine those boots, look all starched and crisp, and go cut a rug.  (don't forget to put that pen in your pocket)

Well Pawpaw, you left us to go to Heaven. I feel selfish for wanting more time with you, but we all do. Still and always will think of you everyday. A piece of our hearts were taken and will never be returned until we meet again. We love you and thank you for everything you provided this family with.

Papaw, I miss you so much. What I miss the most about you is the way you smiled so big when you saw us. I know you're in a better place now, not in any pain anymore. I hope you dance more than you ever have, and sing louder then anyone has ever sang. I'll see you again one day, till that day you'll forever have a place in my heart and we'll always remember you. I love you so much papaw.

Sammy, You were a big part of my life. Made many childhood memories. All our vacations, family trips, going riding in the country every Sunday and stopping at dairy queen for ice cream on the way home. I have many memories of you being the father figure in my life.  I appreciate you being my stepfather for all those years.  I am glad I got to spend time with you in your last days.  You will be dearly missed by all our family and friends. We Love You.

Sammy, you will be missed by your family and friends. Growing up with a step dad can be difficult but through the good times and bad I have fond memories that I will cherish. You helped raise 9 children, 5 of which were not your own. You helped keep a roof over our head and food on the table. I know you have gone to a better place where there is no pain and suffering. Now you can look down and watch the fruits of your labor flourish. We will all miss you and hope to see you again one day.

Dear Sammy, as an adult my most cherished memories of you are when you lived in Lockhart near me.  You brightened my days when I'd come see you and you'd smile ear to ear!! I loved when you went shopping with me and helped me fill the basket with Dr. Pepper, soft Mints and Marlboros! I miss seeing you with your beloved cat and the way you'd annoy the birds as we walked in the front door.  And the most fun we had was your birthday party where we played Johnny Cash and Elvis and you danced with everybody there for hours.  I've really missed all that.
God provides a Heavenly place and a Heavenly body for us and I am thankful you are finally whole again.  You are free from earthly pain and suffering. We will see you again some day in His Glorious presence.

Papaw, I'm really going to miss you and how you always made us laugh you were the best story teller ever. Even though we are missing you so much, we know you have no more pain and you are in a better place. I hope your singing and playing your guitar and living it up in heaven. I'll  see you again someday. I love you.

Dear Papaw, we miss you much! I don't understand why god would take someone like you. I will forever cherish our moments together whether you were making me angry or happy! You will forever hold a huge place in my heart. Thank you for not only being the worlds best grandpa but for being my best friend! Even though we have been years apart, I thank our sweet Diana for bringing us back together. Sammy was such a good man, and I can tell by your words, he was an awesome father & grandfather to all of you. I am so elated my cousins were so blessed to share this kind of love. I have grand memories of visiting Sammy & Birdie's family home when I was young and will cherish them forever. My prayer is for your peace & comfort during these sad days ahead. I love all of you. My dear Daddy, I'm so thankful that I am your daughter. Letting you go was absolutely the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my entire life. The night you left us is so clearly etched in my mind, I miss you so much. Praying for God's comfort as we know that you are whole again, in mind, body and soul. You will spend eternity with your family who you love so very much; our Grandma and Grandpa Eskew, your brother Tommy Joe, sisters Jeanette and Betty Jean along with your loving wife, our sweet Grandma Betty. As you left us, Grandma Betty was waiting for you with tears of joy and arms wide open. Your journey has ended Daddy and it has taken you to a beautiful place. You must be so incredibly happy now and together you and Grandma Betty will dance forever as heaven's angels sing. I'll think of you every single day and send my love to you in heaven. Until I see you again...I love you Daddy.
