Sandra was born in Coahoma, Texas on December 3, 1933. She graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in Math and from Texas A&I University – Kingsville with a Master's degree in Education.
Sandra was married to Ross L. Allee, Jr. on December 31, 1954. She was a dedicated math teacher at Moody High School in Corpus Christi for 22 years, pioneering, in collaboration with several other educators, an English-Math-History program so successful that students wanted to attend. In addition, Sandra sponsored the cheerleading team for many years and rarely missed a game. She enjoyed many hobbies, including travel, art, flying and kayaking. She and Ross retired to Concan, Texas and were active members of the Reagan Wells Baptist Church. Later, they traveled full-time in their motorhome for 12 years, frequently volunteering at national parks and meeting new friends along the way.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ross L. Allee, Jr.; her brother, James Kenneth Baker (wife Cathy) of Maxwell, Texas; her daughter, Kennon Ruth Allee Welch of Austin, Texas; her granddaughter, Sandra Lee Griffin (husband Asher) of Austin, Texas; great-granddaughter, Avery Grace Griffin of Austin, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.A.C. Baker of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Sandra was always full of energy and tirelessly dedicated to every task she undertook. A woman ahead of her time in countless ways, Sandra earned her private-pilot's license, worked on a paleontology dig in remote Mexico, and assisted with construction of an RV park in North Carolina, just to name a few projects. She will be fondly remembered by her family, friends and students.
A small memorial service will be held in Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friends of the Americas, Box 1, Greenwell Springs, Louisiana 70739. Please visit www.wcfish.com to share stories and memories of Sandra.
