
Dear Hannah,    I knew your mother as an "Assistant Chief Reader" at NES where I work as a scorer of essay exams.  She was a delightful person on whom I could rely for help when needed.  She was unfailingly professional, kind, bright, and funny.  I only learned of her death at work today.  Although I did not know her well, nor work with her all that long, I will miss her presence and am so sorry to hear of your loss. I'm saddened to hear about the loss of Sandra. We worked together many years ago at The Round Rock Leader. She was an excellent writer and reporter, and so much fun to be around. She was so proud of her daughter, Hannah, and greatly enjoyed being a mother.    I hadn't seen Sandra for many years, but I am glad to hear how involved she was in her writing. I'm happy to have known her. My sympathy for your loss.



Sandra and I worked at two different newspapers together. I first met her at the Round Rock Leader, where we were both reporters; later, when I was editor of the Lake Travis View, I invited her to come work for the View and we were once again co-laborers.    We saw each other a few times after the View, but it has been a while. But ironically, I was thinking of her just last week and was wondering what she was doing. I wish I had taken action at that exact moment to call and catch up on old times.    Sandra was an excellent writer and reporter. She was an even better person, and she will be missed by all who knew her -- both in person and through her writing.    I did not learn of her death until this morning (Tuesday) and have spent most of the morning crying. I am committed to leading a training session at the time of her memorial service, so cannot attend. But know that I will be thinking of her and praying for her family at that time and in the days ahead.    Peace and grace to you.    Diane Lee



Villanelle III for Sandra    No one better to approach the plight  of humans under-loved, to hear their voices cry,  to offer comfort in the dreary night  a path she carved herself, her fight,  her efforts most direct, not asking why,  no one better to approach the plight.  Expressing truth and feeling she was right,  she stood steadfast beneath a stormy sky  to offer comfort in the dreary night.  Twas not her fate or sense to be contrite,  or comic, but she groomed a humor wry,  no better way to approach the plight.  She cast her wary eye to help me write,  to be accountable, keep courage as Id vie,  an artists comfort in the dreary night,  a friend, sojourner on this flight  called life.  By her example I should try  compassion and approach the plight,  to offer comfort, dissolve anothers dreary night    Nancy Taylor Day



Sandra was ever the bubbly, encouraging writer and friend. I will miss her talent for suggesting viable solutions to knotty problems with plot and character, as well as the energy she devoted to WLT.



Hannah and Darrell - you are in our thoughts and prayers today & we are so sorry for your loss - what a whirlwind it has been for you and I cannot imagine going thru what you have and taking care of 2 little ones at the same time.
