Scott loved life, music and his family, especially his wife Linda and son Josh, daughter-in-law Katie and precious grandson and namesake, Sterling Scott Storm. Scott had a large group of friends accumulated in life, many of whom were childhood buddies. Many of these friends were part of a poker group that played regularly and reminisced more than they played poker. He joined his friends on hunting and fishing trips where they retold the same stories over and over and laughed each time as if it were the first. Through the years a few of these friends departed but were always remembered.
The Storm family returned to Austin shortly after Scott was born. He attended Austin public schools and graduated from the University of Texas.
Scott was an athlete and participated in all sports but football was his favorite. He and his wife met in junior high school and were a couple from that time forward. They married after college graduation. In August, Scott and Linda celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
In 2011, Scott suffered a major stroke that put him in a wheelchair, but it did not diminish his enthusiasm for life. He was surrounded by friends, pets, his devoted wife and son who worked to keep him entertained. He especially enjoyed rides around the family ranch to see the horses and cattle. He relished life with grace, humor, kindness and dignity. He was inspired by his faith in God and is certainly with his loved ones in heaven. He endured a lot but received a lot and was thankful for everything.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife Linda, son Josh and his wife, Katie, and his grandson, Sterling as well as his loyal cousin George Richter, extended family and a posse of friends (you all know who you are). Bless you all. Many thanks to the attentive and helpful caregivers over the years. Special thanks to our lifelong friend, Margaret Ashley- always present and helper extraordinaire, rain or shine. Thank you to the wonderful helpers, nurses and staff of True Heart Hospice. You are all angels.
Scott is at peace.
A private memorial service will be held at Storm Ranch on September 25th. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
