I worked with Sel Graham for several years in the oil and gas business; HE WAS ONE OF THE FEW GOOD, SMART GUYS and I was blessed to know him and his family: Rest in Peace, Sel!!!!

I worked with Sel Graham at Humble Oil & Refining Company - Exxon, for about five years when he first got out of Law School.
He was the smartest, nicest and most gentlemanly figure I ever worked with. After the Grahams moved to Austin, he, Pat and I all stayed in touch and that friendship had a very special meaning for
me. I miss emails from all of them, but I keep Pat, Kyle and Laurie in
my daily prayers and know they are safe in Divine Order. Love to all! MM

On behalf of the Cliff Over Lake Austin neighborhood, on whose Board I serve, I want to honor the life of service of Sel Graham.  For years he gave his time and legal skills (pro bono) to the neighborhood, and many know him as one of the biggest advocates for keeping the area in good standing in all ways.  You always knew where you stood with Sel, and we so appreciated how willing he was to participate and to give.

Here’s remembering Sel Graham.  I moved into the Cliff Over Lake Austin neighborhood during the Christmas week of 1991.  It was a very sad time for me as my beloved father had recently died.  Sel and Pat welcomed me as the newest neighborhood resident, which was a kind and compassionate thing to do.  Dad, like Sel, had worked in the oil and gas industry for many years (Dad worked in geology and later at the executive level at Chevron).  I myself have owned mineral rights on several Texas ranches and have a good fund of knowledge about oil and gas matters.  However, I do not have a highly technical knowledge nor background on the subject.  The true blue expert in my life, my dearest Dad, was gone.  Sel picked up the gap as he (like Dad) also knew many highly technical details on the subject.  Sel was always willing to help me over the years on these matters and NEVER asked for anything in return.  His sharing of knowledge (and wisdom) came in handy many times over the decades.  Sel was again helpful when I chose to sell my historic ranch property.  (It is the same location where the historic “Come and Take It” flag was designed and crafted in the 1830s on a wedding dress by the wife of the then-owner of my ranch.)  With Sel’s assistance, I kept my minerals but sold the surface.  There are many cases where Sel helped other neighbors with various matters over the years.  Thanks, Sel.  You are certainly missed, and I feel very blessed to have known you and had you as my neighbor friend for so long.

To Mrs Pat Graham, Laurie Graham Lambert and family , Kyle Graham and family of Seldon Graham, I am sorry for the loss of such a great guy. For serving our country, for so much more. Thank you for your smile every time I visited Laurie.   You will be missed and you are full of love in peace with the Lord.  Please know that my family is praying for all family members as they grieve.   Love to all.

I first met Sel on the cargo bed of an Army truck in 1947, our plebe year in the United States Corps of Cadets. He thrust out his hand and said: "Bruce, I'm Sel Graham and I believe that we share similar backgrounds. "He referred to his recent return from duty in the post-WWII occupation of Korea, and I had recently returned from similar occupation duty in Italy. Years later in Austin we met his wonderful wife, Pat, and we four began (as our daughter, Lynn noted below) our weekly meetings at Mexican restaurants.

Sel was relentless at trying to name Mount Bonnell  for the correct Bonnell,
and for trying to get ethanol our of auto fuels..

If Sel had ben in western movies, he would have worn the white hat as the "Good Guy".

Dearest Pat, we're sorry that we aren't able to be with you Sunday to celebrate  Sel's Life but know that our love for you and your family is yours forever,  We have our memories...our friend ship since Bruce and Sel's West Point days  (classmates  of 1951) to our Sunday night dinners  in Austin,  and all of the other events  we shared  through the years.  We are so lucky to have your friendship  now and forever.

I worked with Sel Graham when he was a new lawyer for Humble Oil & Refining Company, he was one of the most respected, respectful, smart, kind people I have ever known.  I did not know Pat that well when they  lived in Midland, but after computers became the universal means of communicating, Pat and I became email friends and, when she became ill, Sel periodically sent me emails to keep me up to date with her status. Sel and Pat Graham were/are two of the best people I have ever known and he will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out Pat, Laurie, Kyle and all other members of the Graham family;  you were/are blessed!

Honor to Sel Graham

 Geologist then an Attorney who from West Point graduated,
With the highest of stature to the excellence of life related,
He honored and valued the good that he found there in life,
Shared by his life-mate Pat Graham his loyal and loving wife.

We will miss Sel Graham his direct and affirmative stance,
Who the best of life’s offerings could amplify and enhance,
Was a man of great character knew what living was about,
With verbal explanations would leave in no one any doubt.

Sel has gone to meet his Maker went to his peace and rest,
So to Pat and all her family we wish for them the very best,
Know Sel to God is talking and telling God all he has done,
God will nod in approval and tell Sel his place there is won.

I remember our Tuesday dinners at Margarita’s fondly! Sel was a great friend and colleague of my dad, Bruce Robertson. Well done, good and faithful servant ... duty, honor, country!
