SMSGT Robert Paul Mele, Retired, age 70, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2011. He was born on Thursday, April 4, 1940 to Louis and Lillian Mele in Syracuse, New York. He was a USAF Sr. Master Sergeant serving from March 20, 1958 and retiring July 1, 1979. He worked for the Travis County Sheriff’s Office as a Detective from May 23, 1979 until his retirement on February 28, 1999.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis R. Mele and Lillian Mele; son, Paul Anthony Mele.
Robert is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marie Mele; sons, Robert John Mele, Richard Duane Mele, Patrick Shawn Mele; grandchildren, Michelle Diane Mele, Travis John Mele.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, February 7, 2011 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Graveside Service 9:45 am on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
