Susan was born on August 5th, 1962 in Denton, Texas to Walter William Gilchrist and Doris Carol Haesly.
A devoted member of Life Family Austin, Susan's faith was central to her life. She was deeply committed to her church family and played an active role in her church, finding great purpose in serving God and her community. Her strong faith and love for Jesus Christ guided her in all that she did.
Susan was a vibrant, adventurous soul who found joy and inspiration in the beauty of the natural world. She was a lifelong athlete and an avid mountain biker whose many adventures included hiking the Appalachian Trail, climbing mountains in Hawaii, swimming with whales in the Philippines, and embarking on a life-changing safari in Uganda. A real estate agent by trade, Susan was known for her passion and dedication not only to her career but also to serving others. She was actively involved in non-profit organizations including Juntos Belize, Bee Cave Recovery, and Trotter House, reflecting her unwavering commitment to helping those in need and bettering the world around her.
Above all, Susan’s greatest love was her family. She is survived by her children, Alexandria [Kyle] Kendrick, Walter Mayo, and Meredith Paschal, and her beloved grandchildren, Darby Kendrick and Oliver Kendrick, who brought her immense joy. She is also survived by her mother, Doris French, and her brothers, Loren Gilchrist and Richard French as well as her niece Jacqueline Gilchrist. Her family was her constant source of pride and joy, and she relished every moment spent with them.
We will honor Susan’s memory with a Celebration of Life in January at her church, Life Family Austin. Details will be shared once finalized, and all are welcome to join in celebrating her extraordinary life.
She will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, compassionate heart, and steadfast devotion to her faith. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Juntos Belize, Bee Cave Recovery, Trotter House, or LifeFamily Austin.
