

Suzanne attended Montrose Elementary School, Sidney Lanier Junior High, and was a member of the first graduating class of Lamar High School in Houston, Texas. While attending the University of Texas she met her future husband, Leigh Ellis, Jr. They fell in love under the stars in Astronomy class. They were married in Reno, Nevada on February 17, 1945. They remained happily married until Leigh's passing in 2002.
Suzanne was a member of St. Anne's Guild at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, the Junior League of Austin, and the Settlement Home for Children. Suzanne was a perfectionist and took pride in everything she did. She was an excellent cook and homemaker.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Tarlton Ellis of Austin, Lucille Frances Ellis of Houston, and son, Leigh Ellis, III and his wife Mimi Greenwood Ellis also of Houston.
"Other Mother" will be missed by her grandchildren: Robert Dean Hesley, III; Suzanne Hesley Hansum; Leigh Ellis, IV; Nelson Henderson Ellis; John Fairfax Ellis; and, two great-grandchildren, Tarlton Eric Hansum and Claire Harper Hansum.
Following a private family burial at Oakwood Cemetery, a celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
Honorary Pallbearers include Robert Clarke Heidirck, Chris Hellman Heidrick, Jerry Arch Bell, Philip Nash Bell, Rogan Banton Giles, Jr., Richard P. Buckingham, III.
The family wishes to express its gratitude to the care-givers at the Summit of Westlake Hills and Hospice Austin.
