Sydney Trezvant Ellis

Sydney Trezvant Ellis, 92, died Tuesday, January 31, 2006. He was preceded in death by his wife Jane Hetrick Ellis, parents Edwin Sydney and Anne Haden Ellis, sisters Nancy Bolte and Emil Wood. He is survived by a daughter, Ruth Jordan Ellis; sons Thomas Haden Ellis, Andrew Callaway Ellis and partner Jay Gravink, Philip Gore Ellis and wife Debby Harris Ellis, and Stephen Jeffries Ellis; grandchildren, Emily Kate Ellis, Marie Pauline Ellis, Walter Haden Ellis and their mother Jeanne DeFriese, Sean Michael Ellis and his mother Nancy O’Brien Ellis, and Olivia Jane Ellis; great grandson, Xavier Matthew Chapa and his father David Chapa; nephews Steve Bolte, David Wood and Mike Wood; niece, Ann Snead. A graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, class of 1934 and a veteran of World War II, Corps of Engineers. He retired in 1978 after a career in the chemical business. The family thanks the Harbor Unit of Carestone Assisted Living Center for their loving care of Sydney and the dedicated staff of professionals at Christopher House at Hospice Austin. The memorial service will be Saturday, February 25, 2006. The Afterschool Program at St. John’s Episcopal Church was Sydney’s favorite charity.
