Theo was born in New York City on June 11, 2009. Theo and family lived in Brooklyn before moving to Austin, TX in 2012. Theo attended Athena Montessori School, Trinity Episcopal School, Liberal Arts & Sciences Academy, and Austin High School. Theo was a gifted student with a passion for reading, technology, problem-solving, and the arts.
Music was in Theo’s soul. A more ardent Austin City Limits Festival lover you will not find. Theo consumed music voraciously, collected and shared artists and songs with friends and family, analyzed lyrics, and felt the power of music deeply. Theo was also a laser-focused enthusiast with passions for F1 Racing, robotics, baseball, technology, environmental causes, politics, and human rights, especially trans rights.
Theo was warm, confident, kind, clever, tender, messy, deeply sensitive, fun and funny, and never met a stranger. Theo was proud to be Jewish and was deeply attuned to and affected by any injustice. Theo cared for and championed loving sibling Nola – the two were deeply entwined and shared a love, friendship and connection beyond words.
Theo will be deeply missed.
Theo’s family is grateful to all who have shared, guided, and touched Theo’s life, especially in the last year. Your support and love has always sustained them all, and they are filled with gratitude for the outpouring of care.
Theo is survived by parents Amanda and Matthew Lipstein, sibling Nola Lipstein, age 14, and dog, Roxy, age 10. Theo is also survived by loving grandparents Don and Nancy Plattsmier of Ft. Worth, TX, and Benay and Howard Lipstein of Livingston, NJ. Additionally Theo is survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins Amy Plattsmier, Jason, Shiloh, and Tallulah Gonsky of Brooklyn, NY; David Plattsmier of Grand Rapids MI; Peter, Malorie, Harrison, and Cory Lipstein of New Jersey and New York; and Jeff Lipstein and Sandy Bell of Kingston, NY.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday November 6, 2025 at Congregation Agudas Achim at 7300 Hart Lane, Austin, TX 78731. There will be a memory box at the service where friends and family can bring and leave a photo of Theo with a story attached. Any remembrances will be deeply appreciated by the family.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, people give a donation to Dell Children’s Foundation in memory of Theo. Please visit https://give.supportdellchildrens.org/campaign/741654/donate for memorial donations.
