

On August 2nd, 2025, Thomas Edward Seekatz, 88, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
Born and raised in Austin to Elesabeth and Roy Seekatz, Tom lived a full and vibrant life marked by service, laughter, and an enduring love for the people and places of Central Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Austin. A Sigma Chi fraternity member, he was also nominated and served as a revered Cowboy while lettering in golf earning the Messingale Trophy as the team’s low qualifier under guidance of the team’s coach of legend, Harvey Penick.
Following his time at UT, Tom proudly served in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant Junior Grade, carrying a deep sense of duty and pride throughout his life. After returning home, he built a life centered around family, music, and the joy of sharing a good meal or a great story. He served on the board of directors for the Austin Lighthouse, Texas Association for the School of the Blind (L.I.G.H.T.) for over 40 years, and was active in the Rotary Club.
A passionate cook and avid music lover, Tom was a fixture at the historic Saengerrunde Dance Hall for many years, where his warmth and wit made him many lifelong friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife and four sons.
A small, private family ceremony was held on Thursday, August 7th 2025, and Tom was laid to rest at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery.
A memorial service celebrating his life and a “Last Putt” is to be planned at the Great Hills Country Club a later date.
In lieu of flowers, and in Tom’s memory, the family invites you to help rebuild and support ”The Heart of Central Texas”. Donations may be made to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country.
