Tomiko Gladden

Tomiko Gladden passed away on October 28th, 2022. She was 92 years old. Tomiko was born June 2, 1930, in Tokyo, Japan. She met and married Ewin (Sam) Gladden while he was stationed in Japan with the US Army. He left Tomiko in 1992 where she courageously lived widowed for 30 years. She was a wonderful mother to her three children and a devoted wife to Sam. Tomiko was a petite woman, but what she lacked in stature she more than made up for in her large, lively personality and inner strength.

She is preceded in death by her son Marcus, who passed away in 2012. Tomiko is survived by her son Michael of Austin, his wife Kim Kinsey, and his two daughters Jamie Gladden and Ashley Gladden, along with two stepsons Ethan Beck and Grayson Beck. She is also survived by her daughter Tina Durand of Corpus Christi, her husband Mark, and their three children Michelle Murphey, Christi Durand, and Alan Durand, along with their five grandchildren. She will be laid to rest with Sam on November 15 at 1:30 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. She will be greatly missed by all those she touched.
