Vincent Francis Craig, 59, a proud San Francisco native, passed away on the morning of June 4th, 2023 in Austin, Texas, due to a heart attack. He had been living in Austin with his extended family for the past 12 years.
Vince was born in San Francisco, California on September 3rd, 1963. Living in the outer Richmond District, he attended grammar school at St. Monica’s before moving on to Saint Ignatius College Preparatory. At SI, he was an accomplished debater known for his persuasive oratory. While there, he made many friendships and began his life-long passion for music. It was during this time that he developed a wide taste for many musical genres and could often be found attending concerts at local venues with his friends. Following his graduation from SI, he attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.
Vince became an accomplished entrepreneur and business professional early in life with a focus on litigation support services, but he later branched out into Enterprise Software. But his true avocation was found in a burgeoning love of music and honing his craft as an accomplished guitarist. In his free time, when he wasn’t gigging with local bands, he was mentoring others in his Fellowship as a friend of Bill W, or just relaxing with his loving extended family. His nephew, Alex, will remember Vince taking him out to play 1X1 basketball on the weekends, and his niece will remember Vince for helping her on her path as a guitarist.
In the last 10 years, Vince showed himself to be a loving and devoted son. He aided his mother tirelessly in countless ways, from cooking her meals, driving her around town, helping her recover from two extended hospitalizations, and constantly being present to attend to her needs.
His family and friends will miss his smile, sense of humor, compassion and robust lust for life.
Vince is survived by his mother Leila Craig; brother, Bryan Craig; sister-in-law, Susan Craig; niece, Carolyn Craig; and nephew, Alex Craig.
The Funeral Mass will be held on June 23rd, 2023 at St Thomas More Church in Austin, Texas at 3PM Central time, followed by the Reception. Keep checking back to see any further updates.
