Our mother was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Manos, Sr.; parents, Benjamin and Phoebe Thomason; brothers, Lee Thomason, Elmer Thomason and Lovard Thomason; sisters, Jewell Stokes, Anna Bell Campbell and Jettie Voudouris; and infant grandson, Mickey Manos Jr. Violet was born on August 19, 1909. At the age of 1, our mother moved from her birthplace of Brownwood, Texas to Austin, Texas where she has resided 97 years. Her education included attendance at Fulmore, Matthews, Stephen F. Austin High School and Nixon-Clay Business College. She worked at the Paris Café and E.M. Scarborough Department Store. On October 11, 1930 she married Mike Manos Sr., an Austin Restaurateur. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Mickey, Mike and Athena. Throughout mothers life she dedicated herself to her family and her church. She always participated in parental activities at her childrens schools and in her childrens extracurricular activities. Her leadership skills were valued at both West Austin Baptist Church and Tarrytown Baptist Church where she served as superintendent of the Sunday School Primary Departments, a Vacation Bible School leader, sponsor of the Girls Auxiliary, a member of the Womens Missionary Union, and other various Bible Study groups. Violet is survived by her children; sons, Mickey Manos, Mike Manos, Jr. and wife Gloria, and daughter, Athena Shawell. Her grandchildren include: Melissa Foles, Brad Manos, Mike Manos III and Shannon Shawell. Mother was an excellent cook who had a gift for making her familys holiday dinners and special gatherings into lifelong memories. She had a sweet disposition and knew how to make everyone feel special. Her smile, kind words written and verbal and special twinkle in her eye will always be remembered. We as a family feel truly blessed to have had her in our lives. The Manos Family wishes to express our thanks to her caregivers: Juana Reyes, Conception Perez and mothers special angel, Susana Aviles.
