

Violet Cook Seiders (G'ny) passed away December 3, 2008 at the age of 93. She was born April 8, 1915 in Austin to Beulah Moore Cook and Hugh Wilson Cook, the fourth of five children. Violet was raised in Austin and graduated from Austin High School in 1932. She attended the University of Texas before beginning her career as an elementary school teacher. Her greatest joy was being a homemaker supporting her husband Eugene "Red" Seiders in the Kash Karry grocery business and raising her three sons, Terry, Roger and Alan. Her favorite things to do were cooking wonderful meals for family, relatives and friends, drawing house plans, and working on genealogy. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Austin Women's Club, WOW Luncheon Club, and Daughters of the American Revolution. Violet is survived by her three sons, Terry and wife Sheryl, Roger and wife Pat, and Alan and wife Dyanne; 11 grandchildren, Scott and fiancé Linda, Stephanie, Steven, Ryan, Rick and wife Emily, Roy and wife Kathi, Monika, David and wife Ericka, Alana, Amy, Adam and wife Mandy, and Heather; great grandchildren Reese, Violet, Gray, Christa, Brooke and Karson; sister Hazel Cook Hainey, and three nephews Clarke Cook, Mel Hainey, and Bryant Hainey. Violet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eugene Seiders of nearly 70 years, and her three brothers, Hugh Wilson "Cheesy" Cook, Eugene Cook and James Cook. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 7th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery Annex. Pallbearers will be her 7 grandsons Scott, Ryan, David, Rick, Roy, Steven and Adam. The family wishes to give their thanks to the wonderful staff at Westminister Manor H.C., Dr. Matthew Rogers, and Dr. Peter Nutson for the special care provided to Violet during the last two years. Violet was born a child of God and as her faith, knowledge and love for Jesus grew, she brought light into the lives of those surrounding her. Violet's influence and spirit will live on in the hearts of those whom she loved and those who loved her.
