Vivian Arvella Moss

Arvella Moss Vivian Arvella Moss, 96, widow of long-time Texarkana Independent School District business manager, Garland Moss, Sr. passed away Tuesday April 3 in Austin, Texas. Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 6, 2007 in the East Memorial Park in Texarkana. Mr. Joseph Walker, grandson-in-law, will officiate. Born in Dickson, TN, Mrs. Moss moved to Texarkana with her family in 1919. She graduated from Texas High School, served as bookkeeper for Beasley’s Music Co. and Texarkana ISD, and retired in 1977. Married in 1938, she was active at Walnut Street Church of Christ where her husband was an elder for 29 years before he died in 1989. In 1998, Mrs. Moss moved to Austin to be near her son, Gary Robert Moss. Lovingly known as “Choo Choo” by her nieces and nephews and others, she loved children and often babysat for friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Garland “Rusty” Moss, Jr. In addition to her son and his wife Marquita Moss, she is survived by three grandchildren, Tasha Walker and Christa Copeland of Austin and Yahna Tucker of Fayetteville, AR; five great grandchildren, Darby and Rick Walker and Isaac, Benjamin, and John Adam Copeland, all of Austin; a sister, Ireline Sandlin of Texarkana; nephew Rick Sandlin of Texarkana, and nieces Linda Ray and Debbie Steifer of Texarkana; three grand nephews; a grand niece; and four great grand nieces and nephews.
